Appaz Kurtamet,  a 20-year-old teacher of the Crimean Tatar language who was kidnapped by the occupiers and then brought up on absurd charges, was remanded by the self-proclaimed Crimean court until at least December 5.

Crimean activist Elmaz Qırımlı announced this on her Facebook page.

Appaz is being held in the Simferopol pre-trial detention center and charged with Article 208, part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - "Organization, creation or financing of an illegal armed formation." On October 24, the occupying Supreme Court of Crimea rejected the appeal of Appaz's lawyer and kept the young man in custody until December 5.

Appaz Kurtamet was kidnapped by the Russian invaders in July at the Chongar checkpoint. Nothing was known about him for more than two months. Later, various sources confirmed the presence of a 20-year-old young man in a filtration camp. As it became known later, the Russians found correspondence in Appaz's phone, which, according to the prosecution, indicates that the young man transferred UAH 500 to one of the Ukrainian military units.
