EXPLOSIONS IN DZHANKOY. WHAT WAS THAT?

Satellite images show the destruction of some military equipment and aircraft

Around midnight on November 16, Crimeans reported on social networks that they heard at least 6 explosions in Dzhankoy and the suburbs. Later, it became known about the strikes in the eastern part of the city, where the military airfield is located, which the occupiers use to attack Ukraine. After the occupation of Crimea, the 39th helicopter regiment of the 27th mixed aviation division of the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Command of the Southern Military District is stationed at the air base.

The occupation authorities confirmed the explosions in the vicinity of the Dzhankoy airfield. 40 minutes after the first explosions, local users of Telegram channels wrote about another explosion, after which the lights went out in some areas of Dzhankoy and villages nearby. And the Crimean partisans through their telegram channel reported about problems with electricity in the entire southern part of the city and a large convoy of cars leaving Dzhankoy. Almost immediately, social networks circulated footage showing bright flashes in the sky and audible explosions.

Pro-Russian occupation sources reported on the attack by the armed forces drones and the "successful operation" of the Russian anti-aircraft defenses "without any damage."

We studied several satellite images and compared them with each other. One of the Google maps shows large black spots and traces of helicopters, as well as 2 buildings that were probably fired upon. The picture on this map is slightly different from the ACME map. However, the update time of Google-maps is not known for sure.

It is known from open sources that this airbase was used by the occupiers for combat attack and transport helicopters, including MI-8, MI-35M, MI-28, KA-52.

The next day, the Russian publication "Avia.pro" wrote about the ability of Russian air defense systems to "partially repulse the attack."

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine does not comment on the night explosions in Dzhankoy.
