Erdoğan uses his trump cards

UA:SOUTH continues to follow the Turkish election campaign. This time, we analyzed what Erdoğan is proposing to keep the president's seat

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan distrusts low ratings and intends to win the race.

Experts have calculated that his package of gifts to Turkish voters will cost taxpayers 150 billion liras - almost 8 billion dollars at the current exchange rate.

First, each family will receive 25 cubic meters of gas for free during the year. In order not to make it look like a bribe, the gift was called a promotion in honor of the start of Turkish gas production in the Black Sea.

Erdoğan launched powerful infrastructure projects throughout his 20-year rule. During the elections, he added a few more.

First, a high-speed train will now run between the two main cities of Turkiye: it will be possible to get in 1 hour and 20 minutes from Istanbul to Ankara. The distance between the two metropolises is 445 km, previous high-speed trains covered it in 4.5 hours.

Secondly, on May 3, Erdoğan opened the country's longest tunnel. Two 14-kilometer-long pipes will connect the cities of Gümüşhane and Trabzon in the eastern Black Sea region. This road is part of the Silk Road and passes through the mountains. Fogs and icicles often prevent the rapid movement of traffic and the tunnel will shorten the journey by at least half an hour.

Thirdly, Turkiye recently launched its own military satellite IMECE into orbit and plans to launch a telecommunications satellite TURKSAT 6A, which will operate for 15 years. Turkiye already occupies 30% of the global satellite communications market and plans to become a powerful space power.

And fourthly, the first Turkish TOGG electric car is entering the market. Last year, on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of the Republic, Erdoğan already drove this car. The TOGG commercials did not leave TV screens for several weeks. This year, the car will be put into mass production.

Erdoğan’s main motto for the past 5 years has been "milli ve yerli", which means "national and local". The goal is to produce everything - from cars to satellites. Erdoğan promises to make the next century "Turkiye's century". Soon we will find out if the voters believed his promises or not.
