Russia sends pseudo-Cossacks to the occupied Luhansk region

The arrival of units of Russia's so-called "Orenburg Cossack Army" in the occupied territories of the Luhansk region has been documented. According to Prava Sprava's local sources, the Cossacks will be involved in maintaining public order and protecting infrastructure in the occupied territories of the Luhansk region.

Serhiy Slepov, Ataman of the Orenburg Cossack Army's First Division, commands the unit. The detachment has a total of up to 70 members.

Today, there are Cossack formations from Russia totaling 2,000 people in the occupied territories of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

The presence of Cossacks from the regiment named after Ataman Platov and the 2nd Kuban Battalion named after Ataman Chepiga is currently present.

On April 26, the Kuban Battalion arrived in Ukraine. The total number of Kuban Cossack detachments fighting in Ukraine is estimated to be 400.

Furthermore, the arrival of Russian "Cossack" units "Don" and "Tavrida" to the territory of the occupied districts of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions was documented.

The combined unit "Don" has been relocated to the Kharkiv region's Izium district.

Besides, separate units of the 239th Guards Tank, the Suvorov, Kutuzov, and Alexander Nevsky Orders of the Orenburg Cossack Regiment, a tactical formation of the Russian Armed Forces' ground forces, were recorded in Ukraine as part of the Russian occupation forces. Military unit No. 89547 is the conditional name.

Military unit No. 89547 is part of the Central Command's 90th Guards Panzer Division, with a permanent deployment location in Chebarkul.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the regiment and division suffered heavy losses in personnel and equipment on March 10, 2022, during fighting in the Brovarsky district of the Kyiv region. Colonel A. Zakharov, the regiment's commander, was also killed.

The so-called "Cossack" formations of the Don, Terek, Kuban, and Crimea are part of the occupying country's combat reserve. The corresponding agreement was signed at the southern military district's headquarters. The clauses of this "agreement" state that the number of "Cossacks" in the mobilization reserve must be at least 50% of the total number of Cossacks who meet the established requirements. There are currently over 44,000 "Cossacks" on military records within the specified district.

As previously reported, the Kremlin is attempting to compensate for the occupying troops' lack of personnel by deploying members of "Cossack" formations, private military companies, and forcibly mobilized residents of ORDLO.
