Svitlana Shukaylo was taken by the russian military men on the evening of August 17 right from her house, in front of her husband. Since then her close ones haven’t heard anything from the 59-year-old woman that was kidnapped by the occupants. Svitlana was a Deputy Director of the Kherson affiliate of the Institute of the Soil Preservation of Ukraine. She lived in the village of Naddnipryanska 10 km away from Kherson together with her husband.

Since the beginning of the occupation she was taking care of the pets that were left by their owners. Everyday she was feeding five abandoned cats and two of her own cats. She was also taking care of the dog whose owners asked to take him when they were leaving Kherson. After she was kidnapped, her relatives were appealing to the occupation commandant’s office and police. The occupants accepted an appeal, but they refused to tell where Svitlana was.

Her relatives got to know via social media that she was kept in Kherson at the 3 Teploenergetykiv Street, which was a former sobering-up station. The guards of newly formed prison for the Ukrainians confirmed that Svitlana was there, but they didn’t allow to meet her. After that in the occupation commandant’s office it was reported that the previous appeal about Svitlana’s disappearance was no longer relevant as her relatives already knew where she was. The new appeal for the illegal keeping of the person wasn’t taken by the occupants.
