The Turkish government and the opposition about the Russian-Ukrainian war

What do the allies of the two Turkish presidential candidates, Erdoğan and Kılıçdaroğlu, think about Russian aggression against Ukraine?

The position of the allies of the People's Alliance of the presidential candidate Recep Erdoğan regarding Russia's war against Ukraine

Devlet Bahçeli, leader of the Nationalist Movement Party, ex-deputy prime minister:

"I believe that it will not be long before a permanent peace is established between Russia and Ukraine."

His other statement:

"Putin's attempt to justify the occupation will go down in history as a lie. This is a sign that he is entangled in contradictions."

Mustafa Destici, leader of the Great Unity Party:

"Russia's attack on Ukraine, which is an independent friendly state, cannot be justified by anything he (Putin) says. He explains the start of the war due to the efforts of Western countries to surround Russia. Every independent state can become a member of any international organization. Those who want to join NATO - join NATO, those who want to join the Asian Union - join the Asian Union. Putin or Russia cannot decide this. Russia could not accept Ukraine's independent actions, so it attacked Ukraine from all sides."

Zekeria Yapicioğlu, leader of the South African HYUDA party (considered the political wing of the terrorist Kurdish Hezbollah):

"The USA wanted this war to start and made Ukraine a bait for Russia."

Fatih Erbakan, leader of the New Welfare Party:

"Our country is very interested in Russia's entry into Ukraine. We consider such an attack unacceptable. At the same time, it is not difficult for us to understand Russia. For 15 years, the USA and NATO have done everything possible to incite Russia."

The position of the allies of the National Alliance of presidential candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu regarding Russia's war against Ukraine

Ali Babacan, leader of the Democrats and Progress party, ex-deputy prime minister of Turkiye for EU affairs:

"We do not recognize and reject Russia's decision to annex Ukrainian territories. The Russian Federation is trying to expand its territory by force of arms, violating international law. We are against the enemies of democracy both in Turkiye and in the world. The law cannot be violated by arbitrary imposition."

Ahmet Davutoğlu, leader of the Future Party, and former prime minister of Turkiye:

"We condemn and categorically do not accept this invasion of Russia, which is contrary to international law, UN resolutions, and all relevant documents."

Meral Akşener, leader of the Good Party, ex-Minister of Internal Affairs, and ex-Vice-Speaker of the Parliament, very often speaks out against Russia's actions. Here is one of her many quotes:

"The referendums in Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia clearly violated the principle of respect for sovereign law, which is the basis of international law. This position of Putin is now a threat to the security and territorial integrity of not only Ukraine but also the countries of the region."

Temel Karamollaoğlu, leader of the Happiness Party:

"Russia's decision to annex Ukrainian territories added salt and pepper to the disorder, chaos, and conflict environment that has been observed in our region for a long time. Just as we do not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea, we will not recognize the annexation of these regions."
